Recipes: Tzatziki

Kalimera, everyone! (That means good morning!) Today, we thought we’d share with you the recipe for something that’s a real staple of Greek food: Tzatziki! We hope this recipe improves your mealtime -- whether you’re dining here at our restaurant in Galveston, dining at home, or filing it away for future cooking adventures!

As you may know, Tzatziki is a cucumber-and-yogurt dip, served today with Gyros and traditionally served as an accompaniment for many meats (or just a fun dip for your pita bread)! This is a healthy, tasty sauce that’s easy to prepare and easily added to any kitchen repertoire!

Our recipes are meant to yield a large amount, so we’ve sliced it down to a portion that’s way better for home use!

Welcome to Olympia Grill!

Welcome to the official blog of the Olympia Grill on Seawall! We're here to keep you tuned in with recipes, specials, and events! But before we proceed, let us introduce
ourselves to you.

The Olympia Grill was opened in May of 2004, by the brothers Larry and Tikie Kriticos. The brothers are first-generation Greek Americans: their father, Gus, was from Patmos,
and their mother Nora's family came from Sparta. During their childhood, they worked for their father in his restaurant, the Seawall Café, learning how to make some of
the same dishes they serve today and picking up on Gulf and Creole cooking styles. Restaurants are the family business; their uncle, Paul Santire, owned "The Golden Greek"
for many years.

The Olympia Grill isn't the brother's first restaurant. They've owned restaurants in Houston, Beaumont, and Waller, and are glad to be settled back in their hometown.

The goal was to bring the same Greek comfort food they'd enjoyed since childhood and present it to their customers, locals and friends. But the restaurant doesn't serve Greek
and Greek alone; we also serve American favorites and seafood dishes. And we've taken already healthy Greek favorites and made them healthier. As our sign says, we've been
serving up healthy food! "...since 1500 B.C!" We only use olive and canola oils in our cooking, with fresh ingredients, and our menu is marked with items that we've strived to
make gluten free.

We've been a Texas Montly pick from 2004-2010; we've won Best Greek Restaurant from Galveston.com, The Galveston Daily News, and Outsmart Magazine, multiple
years in a row. We've been mentioned in the Chicago Tribune, My Table Houston, and Endeavor lifestyles, and Houston Press Magazine voted us the #2 Restaurant in
Galveston, TX.

We strive to always ensure that our customers have a happy and enjoyable dining experience. We hope that you'll join us!
